Then Michael, because he's ancient history of this, he could fill in the cracks, fill in the gaps, build the world, help remind you about all the aspects that could come into it. First of all, the writing is there, so lots was given to us in the layered way that it was written. What is the process of preparing and fulfilling their arcs in such a short amount of time?ĭavidtz: We got really lucky in terms of the writing. Your characters have only 45 minutes to have an arc. You've done movies and TV shows now, you're kind of doing something in the middle with an anthology series. It would be nice to see it resurface in some way, but I'm not really sure what the machine of this universe is up to. You really never know in this world, in this universe, how they want to integrate one character into another or how one story may cross it. That's not something I can necessarily say, but you just never know. So is this any indication that your character will appear down the line with this card, finally giving us an answer about this? I was not aware of how big of an Easter egg it would be, but yeah, I knew that there was something to it. He only has a few things, and that card with the "PPP" on it was one of those things that we made sure made it into the episode. It's something that Davon keeps with him throughout and is very precious to him. It is one of those "blink, and you miss it" moments, but it was a moment that Michael made sure we emphasized so that for those who knew would be watching close enough, they'd be able to catch it. Were you aware that this is a really big Easter egg that has a lot of mystery behind it in The Walking Dead? Jessie, specifically for your character, there are two shots - and they're kind of "blink, and you miss it" moments - where you're holding a card with the letters "PPP" on it. It was nice to just let it happen and let it flow and play with it. It was already there, building, and it kept building as we were doing it. So it already served the story from the beginning when we just stepped on the set for the first day. It was something that really came naturally and at so many levels without trying. I think it brought so much spice to it, and Embeth and I, we straight away felt like sisters. Chabanol: There was this component about a different sort of culture living here, still here, but it was just a component that was interesting to explore for all of us and for the storytelling.
